The... In the 1950s and 1960s, movie and television westerns were as abundant as superhero films and TV shows are today

and the Twilight Zone itself had its fair share of visits to the Old West.

So far back in season one we had Mr Denton on Doomsday, the story of the alcoholic Mr. Denton being given a chance

at redemption from the Twilight Zone.

In execution, the villainous Joe Caswell was brought from the Old West to the future and

brought death with him.

In dust, a Mexican man sits in a jail cell waiting to be hung for causing the death of a young girl.

And in the grave, an All-Star Western cast delivers a story of revenge from beyond the grave.

So if we look at these stories, it seems that the Twilight Zone so far

has used the Western to deliver some of its grittiest tales. Alcoholism, revenge, tragedy, forgiveness,

the Twilight Zone Westerns weren't light-hearted, until now.

Perhaps playing on the audience's knowledge of the Twilight Zone's past, or maybe just

Western iconography in general, the opening of tonight's episode sees a couple of cowboys

stood looking down the centre of a typical western town but in a nice

moment of subverting expectations instead of a rider coming in on a horse we got our

star Rance McGrew driving in a car.

Well, it's about time. You're an hour and 15 minutes late, ranch.
