And you know those of us who know teens or have teens or work with teens they know

How addictive these can be even for we older people these things have rabbit holes and you find yourself just

Oh did I just spend an hour on Instagram and it's very powerful

It's a powerful source for good. I would argue as well

But the state is actually suing meta. This is the company of both the knowns both Instagram and Facebook saying they use tactics

To boost their profits

But by psychologically dragging these kids in and making these sites addictive and therefore harmful and they cite previous studies

Where Instagram has been known to lead to bullying and especially body image and psychological mental health concerns for especially young women

But really anyone who goes down these rabbit holes knows and recognizes that these sites can be I guess for a lack of a better term

Addictive is this a lawsuit that's going to win? I have no idea

But it really does put a spotlight on how many people are concerned about young people when they're on social networks

So what I would say is of course they're addictive. I've absolutely found myself going

Close this dude. What are you doing like it's ridiculous? You've been scrolling for five minutes

And it's the middle of the day time you're a grown man you have stuff to do

I can imagine for a kid who's you know caught up in that their life is on there right

It's it's even worse. So there's that's already a problem then

I think one of the other elements that the states are using in their lawsuit is

Meta and they're gathering data on kids as well
