Hello and welcome to the Political Party, this episode featuring former Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell.

He was absolutely superb as you would imagine and told us some phenomenal stories.

I knew he was going to be good but you never quite sure exactly what you're going to get out of someone and I knew that we would talk obviously about his experiences with the police

but there's so many other things that we talked about and what you really get the sense of with him is how passionate he is about international development and that was a big part of his life, it's still a big part of his life

and it's just wonderful, it's always good when you're here, can say counterintuitive things, but when you hear any politician talk about things that aren't necessarily heartland issues and for him that's clearly a really big deal and it was wonderful to him.

He's got some incredible stories, I mean he's clearly someone who's got tons of stories and knows how to tell them.

So I sort of feel like we didn't get the answer, there's just so many more things we could have got out of him but he's got a great story about his friendship with Jeremy Corbyn, about he's got loads on Boris, it's absolutely wonderful, he's really funny

but he's also very dignified and very thoughtful, so it covers all bases really, he was superb, so I should have said, oh before we do, he was always so messy these introductions but you could have loads of things that need to say, you can buy tickets to my new editor and share Brexit through the gift shop through the Edmundre Festival website, edfringe.com
