Merry Christmas and welcome to a special Christmas edition of the political party.

This one featuring Anastakample Edples and you might even hear a little bit of the phenomenal

rock group MP4 in there as well. It was recorded at the Lester Square Theatre. The atmosphere there was

incredible. So thank you to all of you who came. It was a very special night and in terms of

raucousness certainly the most, certainly the most wild at times of any of the shows,

of any of these that have done and at times as well very serious. So there's a real mix of

slight chaos and then very very thoughtful political analysis. There have been a few times

doing these shows where when I've sat opposite the personal interviewing you sort of realise

not that I wouldn't have done beforehand. What a significant figure they are and that's true

many of the people that have interviewed but there was a moment last night when Edples and

Anastakample were sat there talking about their period working for Gordon Brown and

Tony Blair respectively and it struck me that actually they've probably never sat down and talked

about it in this way. They might not have even ever sat down and talked about it. They might have

had small talk backstage events or on TV shows but you could tell that actually they've never

done this before really and there was just a real moment where as a keen observer of politics

you really felt that you were brought into something very special. There were also lots of very

silly moments as well and of course given the events of 2016 at home and abroad there were some

there were some very thoughtful moments as well so I hope you enjoy it. It was a real thrill to make

and hopefully it means we can do another big Christmas special again next year.
