I do always like to sit down and find out what's going on in the world by having a quick flick through the papers.

Let's see if it's in the express. No, it's not in the express.

Here's the Daily Mail. No, I can't see any mention of it.

The first few pages there. The sun, surely it'll be on the politics.

On page two. One little reference to it.

Yeah, you'd have been forgiven if you had, like many of the papers missed it. But this week,

the Liberal Democrats have been having their party conference in Bournemouth.

Once derided as the Dungary-Jamboree, this year, as the party gathers by the sea, there's

a certain something in the air, and I don't mean the smell of sewage.

Boyed by remarkable successes in by-elections in Cheshim and Amersham, North Shropshire,

Tiverton and Homerton, and Somerset and Frum,

there is a confidence to the Lib Dems and their leader, Saret Davy, that isn't exactly reflected

in their grand total of MPs. But as things begin to feel a bit more general electione, there

exists the very real prospect of the party once again becoming kingmaker, that as in 2010,

their seats could be the basis for a coalition government, if of course Labour falls short.

Hence, all the talk of tactical voting and proportional representation in Bournemouth this week,

led by Steve Coogan and one Carol Vorderman, of whom a lot more a little later.

Certain to make gains at the next election, you may well ask yourselves,

are we paying the Lib Dems enough attention?
