So the chair of the Office for Budget Responsibility has resigned and the Chancellor is being accused of misleading the public. So how did that budget go? I'm Hannah White and this is Inside Briefing, the podcast from the Institute for Government.

On Monday, the OBR revealed that the accidental leak of the budget happened as a result of

technical errors in loading the economic and fiscal outlook onto their website and keeping it

private before its intended publication time. Its chair, Richard Hughes, has taken responsibility for the breach and resigned.

What does this mean for the ABR's future and political trust in it?

Meanwhile, the Conservative Party in Reform UK and some in the media have spent the weekend

asking the Chancellor and then the Prime Minister whether before the budget,

she misled the public, Parliament,

and according to some ministers, even cabinet, about the state of the public finances.

So what did happen in the budget pitch rolling over the last several weeks?

And what does this tell us about how well the UK does budgets?

Could we? Should we do them differently?

And finally, after a review and then a leak,
