It just gives me another opportunity for us to discuss this idea of municipalities and states

luring businesses to their area by using public funding in order to do it. And in this particular case, it's

$2.775 billion is the estimated deal that the Kansas City Chiefs are making with Kansas. The state

of Kansas is apparently trying to break a record set by the District of Columbia.

But it could be more than that, Bill Whittle,

because over the course of the next 30 years,

there are some estimates that once this deal is inked, it could wind up being something like $6.3 billion of taxpayer funding

to get a business, which is an NFL franchise to move from Kansas City,

Missouri to across the border into Kansas. Bill, the argument will be made, even by conservatives,

they'll say, well, you know, this is good for the community. It's going to be a long-term

generator of income.

The politician who runs the state, the Kansas governor, Laura Kelly, who happens to be a Democrat,

is basically making the argument that economic development people have made for decades,

which is, hey, every dollar we spend generates $3. Are you buying it, Bill?

Well, I'm buying it. If you're going to spend $6 billion to move us across the river,

then we'll take all of the profits from the Kansas City Chiefs until we get our $6 billion plus 15% back.

By the way, the team is worth about $6.2 billion, and the Hunt family that owns the team is worth something like $24, $25 billion.
