Hey, good afternoon, Dr. Laura, thanks for taking my call.

I really appreciate all the advice you give to everybody else.

You've made me a better person, a better human on this earth and I every day appreciate making my life easier.

So my question for you is, I'm a single divorce mom and I have a 14 year old daughter and I wanted to know her dad has

just been remarried and I wanted to know if I need to meet the stepmother.

I have not met her yet.

Well, how long has you been married to that woman?

He's been married six years.

And in six years you've never run into each other in exchanging the kids back and forth,

nothing, events, sports events, art events events how have you avoided meeting each other at

family events she doesn't come okay so she wants to stay out of it. That's kind of thoughtful.

And it's a good point.

The feedback you have from your daughter, is this woman being pleasant to her and kind?

Yes.

Then you need to meet with her and thank her. Okay, I did not know where this call was going to go. That was not what I was expecting but I will...

Why not? Why not? The woman is behaving properly to your child. That should be reinforced and greeted with positive enthusiasm.

Perfect. I can do that.

Good, excellent. Doesn't matter if your husband's a jerk.

He at least picked a woman who's kind to your kid.
