Hi, Dr. Laura. How are you?

Hey, good. Thank you. What's up?

I am calling because I was molested by my uncle when I was. I'm not even sure what age I was.

I think I was somewhere between five and seven maybe.

And what were the circumstances of this?

How did he have access to you?

I, okay, well, that's complicated.

But my, so my mom.

I don't care if it's complicated.

It's important.

I'm willing to slog through the complication with you.

I understand that.

My mother was very sick for pretty much all of my childhood in and out of the hospital, pain medication out of it. She was not very present. My dad worked a lot. What was her problem? What was her problem?

Well, she had a very severe Crohn's disease mixed with bowel

destruction mixed with a bunch of really terrible stuff.

But she also had some pretty severe addictions to the pain medication.

So that took her out of our lives.

She was bedridden for pretty much all of my childhood, pretty much.

Or in the hospital.
