Summary

The pre-tribulational rapture theory, popularized by John Nelson Darby in the nineteenth century, contends that God has two distinct people and two distinct plans for their two distinct destinies. The church will be raptured—what David Jeremiah dubs “the Great Disappearance—seven years prior to the second coming of Christ, and Jews will suffer tribulation. 0:34.0	We just came out with a brand new edition of the Christian Research Journal.
0:40.1	This particular journal is devoted wholly to one purpose,
0:48.7	and that is to provide a biblical response to Christian Zionism.
0:55.2	Christian Zionism. Christian Zionism is fraught with mythology.
1:01.8	One of those myths is the idea that God has two distinct peoples, Jews and the church. In this myth, in this mythology, it is believed that the Jews will suffer tribulation.
1:24.6	Tribulation unlike they have ever suffered before.
1:30.3	It is often said that what they will encounter will make the Nazis look like Girl Scouts
1:42.3	weaving a daisy chain. In other words, the Nazi Holocaust pales
1:49.6	by comparison to what they are about to face in the future. So that's the one people of God.
2:01.3	The second people of God is the church.
2:04.6	So God has two peoples, Israel, and the church.
2:13.0	And with respect to the church, the belief is that they are going to be raptured from the world in a
2:22.8	secret coming seven years prior to the second coming of Christ. And this distinctive twist on
2:33.7	scripture is known as dispensational eschatology.
