| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Rates and Beryl's episode number 72. It's February 24th. Yes, it is a Monday afternoon. Derek Van Riper here with Enosaris. We are working through our positional breakdown series, wrapping up the middle infield portion of that and focusing on short stops in this episode. This week's schedule is a little bit different thanks to first pitch Florida coming up here this weekend along with the labor auctions. We had some travel coming up at the end of the week. So we will have a second episode later this week. It will probably drop on Friday instead of Thursday. So just a heads up on that. If you're enjoying our show on a platform that allows you to rate and review it. Please take the time to do that. |

| 1:02.3 | Everything we do is included with a subscription. |
| 1:06.4 | You know, it seems like we are right in the middle of a golden age at the shortstop position because |
| 1:11.5 | there are high quality players up top, there are interesting players in the middle, and there |
| 1:16.6 | are even options late that are worth throwing some darts on. I love the way the board sets up |
| 1:22.7 | at a premium position, no less. It's been that way for a few years, but it just doesn't look like |
| 1:27.4 | it's slowing down anytime soon. |
| 1:30.5 | Yeah, and I'm glad they're in a golden age because, |
| 1:32.7 | I don't feel like I'm in mine. |
| 1:34.1 | But, you know, one of the things that's weird about it is that, you know, |
| 1:42.2 | there's this conversation about, hey, you know, there's so many great short stops, |
| 1:48.1 | maybe I should wait on them. The problem is, they're so great that you could take shortstop |
| 1:55.0 | off of their name and it'd still be worth drafting where they're drafting. You can, one of the |
| 2:00.0 | fun things you can do on the Farrangraph's auction calculator |
| 2:03.6 | is that you can, you can sort by points. |
| 2:08.7 | And points is right before, is the dollar system right before there's a positional adjustment. |
| 2:15.3 | And they add this sort of positional adjustment. |
| 2:20.0 | You wouldn't want to go in an auction using that number because it's too low. You'll see you'll see why when you do it. |
| 2:26.3 | Like there's Mike Trow's a $30 player. If you do it by points, he's a $40 player if you add the |
| 2:31.7 | adjusted number in. So you don't want to just be like, oh, Mike Trott's only more 30. |
