So I was not expecting this.

Chief Radley and I were going to talk and then he rolled up to where I was sitting and just said,

come on get in we got to go and so I hopped in the car and grabbed my recorder.

I was meeting up with Rob Radley that day because just a few weeks before he had been sworn in as the new police chief.

So he holds a unique position in the community.

He's not from Short Creek and was never FLDS.

But now he oversees a police force that was once controlled by the FLDS Church,

a police force that was found guilty of discrimination based on religion, which is a constitutional violation.

So Rob's work these days involves trying to build trust in a community where trust has long been broken.
