Hi, I'm Lovar Burton and this is Lovar Burton Reads.

In every single episode I handpick a different piece of short fiction and I read it to you.

The only thing these stories have in common I like to say is that I love them and I hope

I am excited, y'all, to bring you another story today by the award-nominated author Tobias

S. Bacchel.

If you remember his story, the galactic tourist industrial complex from last season, you

know you are in for a treat today.

I think the fascinating thing about Tobias' writing is that for him, science fiction is

not about escapism.

We're not completely, anyway.

He calls it reframing and that's what Tobias does so beautifully in his work.

He reframes the situations, the people, the objects we think we know and he gives them new

context.

I believe that reframing forces us to keep our eyes open to the world around us, to continue

to think critically which helps us move forward as a society and as individuals and there

is such joy in stimulating that part of our imaginations.

I hope you will enjoy this story.
