On Monday, the news broke that the Republican National Committee is debating a new platform

proposed by Donald Trump that purports to soften the party's positions on abortion and same-sex

marriage. The new language is being debated this week. This will be widely interpreted as a savvy

move by the Trump campaign, an effort to woo swing

voters and suburban women alienated by the GOP's anti-choice stance.

But what if it's better understood as an expression of fear, that is, worried that the

overturning of Roe v. Wade and the horrors that has unleashed will remain a major problem for Trump and the

GOP this fall. Today we're discussing this with Jess McIntosh, a Democratic strategist who

has spent many years defending reproductive rights. We're going to talk about what it says

that Trump is taking this step, why it's a scam, and how Democrats can make sure voters know that.
