I went from being unable to run a mile to conquering four marathons the following year.

And it had been my first time at a world championship since 2010.

I hadn't raced internationally since the Rio

2016 games. I was coming off of two years out of the sport following two major surgeries on my left

arm. I was in probably going in because of those surgeries, 2017, 2018, the darkest part of my life I've ever been in.

And I got to London, it was like that time where I actually felt like myself again.

And I felt myself coming into the light. And I felt like Mao again. And I hadn't felt like

her in years. And then I raced and I swam three events there and I won two

gold and a silver. And I hadn't been a world champion or won at a major international competition.

I had it won since my London 2012 gold medal and I had it won a world championship since 2010.

And for me, it was just

that reminder. You know, we talk about good overcomes and limitless. And it's like, it was just my

reminder of the power that, you know, we talk about. We as individuals are resilient, but our dreams are

resilient when we choose to believe in them and fight for them. And that was such a

powerful moment. And again, it symbolized something so much bigger than me, but it also

symbolized the importance of constantly choosing to show up for yourself and for that dream
