And we were going to tape this episode early on Thursday because we thought that there

was going to be so much immigration news that we couldn't wait to send all of it to you.

And I'm super glad we did not do that because on Thursday night it was reported that in

a meeting in which she appears to have shot down a deal that a bipartisan group of senators

has been working on on immigration, Donald Trump complained about US taking people from

quote, shit hole countries, close quote.

And that has dominated the media cycle since then in the kind of way that the president's

tendency to make ridiculous comments does, but also when the president says the quiet

part loud.

Yeah, which is a tendency that he has.

Well, I mean, I'm glad that this story came out.

I'm glad we didn't miss it because also my whole point was going to be that the sort of

details that they're negotiating over and the ostensible sticking points and so on and

so forth are is of course important.

I mean, it matters what what the policy is, but that like the thing you have to understand

is that the core issue here is not really about the ins and outs of temporary protected status,
