Hey everyone, it's Michael Shermer. It's time for another episode of the Michael Shermer show, another solo commentary. This on Easter, which we're releasing here on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026. I will remind you of how this is calculated historically. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon, honor after March 21st.

So it moves between March 22nd and April 25th.

Today is April 5th.

The full moon was last, I think it was Thursday or Friday night.

So here we are.

And so just for fun, I asked Super Grock, what is the meaning of Easter?

According to the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus was crucified on a Friday.

That's a good Friday.

And rose from the tomb on the following Sunday.

Easter marks this event as the fulfillment of his victory over sin and death,

offering hope of salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life to believers.

It is often called Resurrection Sunday and serves as the foundation of Christian faith.

The belief that through Jesus' death and rising humanity can be reconciled with God.

Yes, I would agree.

That is the foundation of the religious faith.

Here is what the apostle Paul says in

Corinthians, 1 Corinthians chapter 15. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not

risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty, and your faith is also empty.

For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ has not risen, your fate is futile, you're still in your sins.

Okay?

Well, I don't believe this, and I'll explain why in a moment.

But I think you're missing the deeper point, if you insist, that this be taken literally.
