on-core performance. Welcome to the great detectives of old-time radio and we're now going to begin

to listen to perhaps the most well-known Holmes and in many ways the most controversial.

Over the years there have been a lot of attempts to remake Sherlock Holmes and in many ways the

production team will explain how they're going to do it differently than Basil Rathbone and with

not perhaps in many ways the kindest words for Rathbone's portrayal of Holmes and in particular

Nigel Bruce's portrayal of Dr. Watson. It's been quite quite a few years and Basil Rathbone basically

at this point remains the Babe Ruth of Sherlock Holmes portrayal. I don't think anybody in the world

consciousness despite the different remakes while many have been entertaining and interesting. I

don't think any have come close at least in the American mindset to Basil Rathbone and Sherlock

Holmes. Now there was some baby sea films I've not seen them for myself starring Jeremy Brett

and perhaps I don't know in Britain it may be different but I think in America Basil Rathbone

would probably be the most recognizable actor as Sherlock Holmes. In this teaming we've got

starting with this episode from the 1939 series you've got Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce

who after doing two movies for 20th Century Fox and in began this radio series that would actually

continue while they made another 12 Sherlock Holmes films. Now many of these films were much shorter
