The Michael Barry show just when you think things couldn't get any worse

Sheila Jackson Lee has been waiting in the wings to be mayor of Houston

and there it was on full display on Friday evening the freak show

every person that's been indicted that's gone to there was Ben Reyes up there

the only city councilman in my lifetime to go to prison for taking bribes so of course he's on the

stage nothing telegraphs what Sheila Jackson Lee's administration would look like quite like the guy

who the FBI set up a sting and their worries I won't give you all the details but I've had

enough conversations with the people involved in that whole deal their worry was that it wouldn't

be believable they knew he was taking bribes but he wouldn't believe that this was real

they made an FBI agent into a rich Colombian I think he was Colombian might have been

Venezuelan I think he was a Colombian and he came into Houston and took Betty was it Betty

Maldonado remember oh she was something else she was a port I think she was ahead of the port

and they he had access to a port deal that he desperately needed Houston's support for

and he needed the port commissioner behind it and Ben Reyes behind it and there he was offering

money in the toilet and Ben Reyes took it and went to prison and there he was parading around

it Sheila Jackson Lee's event along with a lot of other narrative wells on stage and in the audience

and that's the crowd and that is the crowd at some point she made the statement that she knows

where the money is she knows where the money because that got this crowd excited we don't get

that money she said quote I know where the money is I know where the folk are I know

we can get this done and she was introduced by Rodney Ellis so now you've got a handful of corrupt

people running the county the city the school board which is why the state took it over
