Determination isn't about calculating the odds.

It's about deciding that the odds are irrelevant.

My mission was specific.

No backup plan, no soft landing.

One target, written down, non-negotiable, and visualized daily.

You can't be determined about something vague.

You see, the sheep dog needs both. Persistence to

endure and determination to advance. The more specific the mission, the sharper your determination

will be. Because clarity of mission maintained under pressure is rare, and rare things have leverage.

I'm going to start today with a confession. Before I was a seal

and before a seal fit, before any of the books and training programs were this podcast, I was a guy

in a suit on Wall Street, sitting in a cubicle, slowly going out of my mind. I had done everything

right by conventional playbook standards that finance degree, the corporate job, career trajectory that made sense on paper.

But I was miserable.

Not complaining about my commute type of miserable, but existentially miserable.

The kind where you sit at your desk and you think, is this it?

Is this actually what I signed up for?

This is all there is?

A lot of folks have that moment. Maybe you have as well.

But most of them go home, have a drink,

figure out how to tolerate it a little bit better tomorrow.
