Summary

This is a special Shed Session episode, normally published exclusively for Mountain & Prairie Patreon supporters. In it, I answer the most common question I receive, which is some variation of "How do I start a podcast?"

-

In this episode I answer that question in excruciating detail, laying out everything I know about it, based on my own bumbling, meandering, eight-year journey through Podcastlandia.

-

I hope this episode will provide a little bit of actionable guidance that will allow you to put your own unique ideas into the world.

-

To listen to all past, present, and future Patreon-exclusive episodes, you can sign up at www.mountainandprairie.com/patreon. Memberships start at as little as $2 per month.

-

Back to the regular episodes next week!!

Hey everybody is Ed. I hope y'all doing great. This is a little bit of a different kind of episode. This is a shed session episode and normally the shed session episodes are exclusively for Patreon supporters. I put this one out last month in April and it was answering the question

0:16.6

that I often receive which I most of the time think I'm not qualified to answer

0:20.9

but I get the question a lot so I decided answer it, and that is something along the lines of, hey, I want to start a podcast, do you have any advice?

0:28.0

And I get a ton of emails and messages on Instagram and all that kind of stuff, and I can never do that question justice via an email or via some little

0:38.8

DM on Instagram or whatever and so I decided to record a podcast episode and just give you every single

0:46.0

thing I know. And again, I really don't think I'm qualified to be answering that question,

0:50.4

but I get it so much that I just wanted to answer it and I wanted to put it all out there.

0:55.3

And so I recorded, I mean it's 90 minutes of me sitting in the shed, answering every bit of that question that I know how to answer.

1:04.0

And so for better or worse, I put it out on the Patreon exclusive feed

1:08.0

and got some really good feedback on it, and so I decided to put it out here on the main feed. I'm doing that for two reasons. One, I think it will be helpful for folks who are looking to start a podcast similar to mine. If you're looking to start the next Smartlist or Joe Rogan or this American life. You can turn this off right now.

1:25.2

This ain't gonna be any help to you. But if you have seen what I've been doing

1:28.8

Mountain Imperial over the last eight years and want to do something along those lines,

1:32.0

hopefully this will give you a little bit of extra information that will help.

1:36.0

And then I also wanted to just give you a taste of what the Patreon exclusive podcast is like.

1:42.0

It's generally a shed session episode and I put one out every month as of this moment there are six

1:49.8

Patreon exclusive episodes on the Patreon feed and if you want to learn more about all that

1:55.0

you go to mountain and pray.com slash Patreon.

1:59.1

So that's enough you happen for me. I hope this episode adds some value.

2:02.0

Again go to mountain prey

2:03.0
