On July 6th, a woman named Sonia Massey did what any of us might do if we thought someone was lurking outside her home.

She called 911 for help.

But instead of safety, what walked through her front door was tragedy.

Moments later, Sonia was dead, shot by the very deputy who came to protect her. And I'll put

protect in air quotes for those of you listening on the podcast platforms. Now more than a year later,

the former county deputy Sean Gray Grayson, has been found

guilty of second-degree murder in her death, the verdict that raises many questions as it answers.

We are digging deep into this, and who else better to help us dig deep into it than defense

attorney and host of defense diaries,

We're going to talk about how this system meant to serve and protect instead failed at nearly

every turn in this case.

And we're going to figure out what the hell went wrong.

What was your reaction to finding out second-degree murder on this?

I was outraged.

I thought that, you know, because the way that this thing went down was he was only charged

with first degree.
