This is Bookworm, and today I have a very special guest.

Her name is Shauna Barbosa.

She is the author of a first book of poetry. My producer brought this book

to me, having seen that there was a fabulous quote by Kendrick Lamar. And she said, you've got to take a look at this book.

The quote is, these words feel like experiences. Some are

personal. Most are enlightening, but all connect. Connect on a higher level, a spiritual

level. Kendrick Lamar's album, Dam, was awarded this year's Pulitzer Music Prize. It was

not only the first time a music Pulitzer was given to a

hip-hop album, but also to a work outside classical and occasionally jazz composition.

To be honest, I didn't know Kendrick Lamar's songs. I went and bought three of this. But I see, you know, I get it. Yeah.

I get it. This is a book, the Cape Verdean blues by a poet whose mother is African American and whose father is African from Cape Verde.
