For the last weeks I have been watching the protests in Iran with great admiration and even increasingly a little bit of hope.

It's easy in those situations to forget the first principles.

The first principle here is just that the Iranian regime is a oppressive

pheocratic regime which stops its citizens from flower rushing and particularly stops women in Iran from

flourishing and that the people who are protesting against this regime were

risking the lives in order to win a chance to try and build a better life,

to serve our admiration and insofar as we can do something our solidarity.

I also want to address two questions which a friend of mine with roots in Iran put to me a few days ago.
