January 27, January 27, it is designated by the United Nations General Assembly as International

Holocaust Remembrance Day. Did you know that? January 27th is International Holocaust

Remembrance Day since 2005, the United Nations and its

member states have held commemoration ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz

and to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazism.

Have you, my friends, ever looked at a family, at a gentleman, at a lady, at a total stranger,

and thought, I wonder what their story is. I wonder what their story is. Maybe it's a time when

you looked at their face. Maybe you saw a limp, a quiet smile,

or an astonishing gift, but something about that other person, something about them made you curious.

But we get busy. So we go back to work. We go back to our meal. We go back to the email,

back to our lives without pausing and learning more about their story.

Their connection made by a friend, I was able to meet a gentleman named Ben Faneer.

Well, after you hear this money moment, you'll never forget Ben.

In meeting Ben, you know immediately that there's something different about this gentleman.

His eyes sparkle, his hands remain strong,

his 84 years of living are amassed by a nearly continuous boyish grin. He has a beautiful

accent that marries his homeland of Poland with his teenage years that were spent in Ireland.

But it's not until you hear his story that you realize that this man is a treasure.

He's a treasure. At age nine, Ben's town of Bedzine was taken three days after the Nazis invaded Poland.

His family was dragged from their houses and forced to line up with their neighbors.
