Based on the best-selling novels of CJ Sansom, Disney Plus's new Tudor drama, Shard Lake, is a 16th century hoodnut that takes place during the dissolution of the monasteries.

The show's historical consultant, Peter Wagstaff, tells Kev Lottchen about how Shard Lake takes

the story of a lawyer who solves crimes and mysteries for some of the most prominent members

of Tudor's society and brings it to the screen. Please note that this episode

Wolf Hall, becoming Elizabeth and most, Shard Lake, which is what

we're talking about today. Peter, welcome to the podcast. I'm so delighted you're able to join us. Thank you very much for having me. It's great to be here. Now, we're talking about Shard Lake, which is a Disney Plus Tudor drama, stripping from 1st of May. Shardlake is based on the best signing book series by C.J. Samson, and they're much beloved. But for those who might be coming to the series Fresh or the TV show Fresh,

could you introduce us to the world of Shard Lake and what it's about?

Well, broadly speaking, and in the simplest terms, it's sort of a chuder who done it.

Crucially, it is a work of fiction. These are novels. These are

stories, and it's a storytelling world, which sits within an historical context. But each book,

each story is different. The first story, Dissolution, which is this first series, Shard Lake,

is a murder mystery primarily.
