Summary

Since Catherine Whitaker and David Law last convened on the Tennis Podcast, Maria Sharapova’s sentence has been reduced by nine months, Andy Murray has won 20 sets out of 20 to move to within sight of World No.1, and Novak Djokovic has continued to struggle. On the day we recorded this edition, Serena Williams withdrew from the WTA Finals because of her ongoing shoulder issues, and Nick Kyrgios was fined and suspended for ’tanking’ in Shanghai, with that suspension being reduced to 3 weeks provided he sees a sports psychologist. So, there was plenty to talk about. The Tennis Podcast is produced in association with Telegraph Sport.

1:30.2

Nick Kirios has just had a verdict come through on his behaviour of last week in Shanghai. He'd

1:37.5

already been given a pretty substantial fine but in I think in the eyes of many people perhaps not

1:44.2

enough of a fine, not enough of a punishment for his apparent not trying during his match against

1:52.5

Misha Zverev and it has come through today that he has been fined a further 25,000 dollars.

1:59.5

He has also been given an eight week suspension but that suspension is in itself suspended

2:07.6

and reduced to three weeks if he agrees to see a sports psychologist that is deemed

2:14.4

acceptable to the ATP in terms of the treatment that he takes. He has since agreed to accept that

punishment and gone along with it he's been pretty contrite in his statement that he's put out since
