Shannon Marie Boido was a 22 year old from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

She had a daughter and loved playing basketball.

On June 22nd, 2016, she was allegedly on a trip to California with her boyfriend Kyle.

Not long into their journey near St Cloud, Minnesota,

Shanna unexpectedly jumped out of the car

and ran off into the woods beside the highway.

She was never seen again.

I'm at Denzel and this is unfound. So, We know the feelings, the hair standing up on our arms, a chill running down our

spine, the pounding of our heart against our chest.

These in many other ways are how our bodies and minds respond to danger.

Evolutionary psychologists will say that this all happens due to hard wiring that was created

millions of years ago when we lived in caves and had to watch out for saber-toothed tigers and woolly

mammoths. When we were still crow magnons, neanderthals, or whatever they're teaching the kids these

days.

Yet those involuntary responses, back then or today, don't tell us what to do.

Should we run or stay, fight or try to make peace,

defend ourselves or defend others. Only a rational and informed assessment of the situation can tell us that.

I bring this up because in the case of Shanna Boido, she was seemingly on the run when she disappeared, trying to get out of the Wisconsin-Minnesota

area due to a mistake she made that she thought would put her in jail for many years. Yet later, months after the disappearance, her family discovered

the penalty would have been fairly small, leaving them and us to wonder if Shanna would still

be with us if it weren't for the fear factor.
