Summary

In this message, Beth Moore calls us to stand up straight, body, mind, and spirit, and rediscover the strength that comes from prayer. Shame can literally weigh us down, but prayer lifts us back into alignment with God’s presence and power.

Drawing from Luke 1, 1 Peter 5:8-9, and Psalm 73:1-26, Beth teaches that petitions requiring persistence are more rule than exception, and that what our prayers are getting pales to who our prayers are growing. She reminds us that when it feels like righteousness costs more than it pays, God is still with us, guiding, strengthening, and shaping us through the cumulative power of prayer.

“God’s presence is my good. What He has done in us, He now shows through us.” -Beth Moore

I'm so freshly out of recovery, still very much recovering with what I had done.

But one of the things that I've been so frustrated about for years, because I could see, you

various pictures of yourself.

And you're in all manner of facial expression, and's just like it can be something and I was like

I just I don't know I can't my posture is terrible I don't know what is wrong with my posture

0:48.4

and I've been prayed about it Lord help me with my posture help me with my posture well when I go in posture. Well, when I go in, by the time I'm

rolling towards surgery, I come to find out, my back has been injured for so long, I literally,

1:01.2

listen carefully, I literally could not stand up straight. So all this time that I'm going,

1:06.7

like, why can't you stand up straight? Because you can't stand up straight. And because the

1:12.3

compression was so severe that when I tried to make myself stand up straight, the pain would be so

1:18.5

severe. I could get through it while I was speaking because I sort of, I sort of can't feel my

1:23.8

body. But afterwards, I would be physically ill, just, I mean physically ill. I would feel like for the next couple afterwards, I'd be physically ill. I mean, physically ill. I would feel like for

1:30.8

the next couple of days, I'd barely be able to get out of the bed. And so I say to you,

1:37.4

one of the things that I've been relearning is how to stand up straight. Because with my back now, repaired is not the right word because

they couldn't, they can't do everything they hope to do because there's too much deterioration

1:52.0

to do it all. But I now have the ability to be able to. So I'm relearning. And so that is my prayer for you. That somehow this weekend,

2:06.8

when we leave this place, we're standing up straighter. And not because of anything that we have

2:13.9

done or anything we have earned for ourselves, but because Jesus Christ is Lord and
