Howdy, welcome to the breakaway podcast. My name is Rachel Thweet, and I'm the associate director of strategic partnerships for breakaway ministries and have had the awesome

opportunity to help lead our Shalom project this year. Shalom is a project that we do every

year for about four weeks asking students to lean into the hurting of the world and bring

peace to a place where there isn't peace. And so this year's project, we have focused on the orphan crisis in the world today.

And we want to help 25 families receive $5,000 adoption aid grants through our partnership with Show Hope

and with a total of $125,000.

And so we have seen students lean in and do different events like Chick-Flead profit

shares and pancake worship nights and all kinds of different stuff to help lean into

the orphan this year, which has been incredible.

And last Tuesday night, we had the opportunity to film a story from a family's perspective,

namely the parent's perspective of adoption.

The Matthews family have two little girls, Hope and Priya, who were both adopted from India.

It is just such a powerful story of adoption.

And so similar to their story, we have sitting with us Reagan Lofbach and she

is a sibling of a family who has adopted. And so we've told the story of adoption through a

parent's perspective, through the orphans perspective. And now we have Reagan who's going to

help share with us this perspective of a sibling. So Reagan, welcome.
