Cielo Drive is whispered about in true-crime circles for one reason: tragedy refuses to loosen its grip on this sloping lane above Beverly Hills. Long before Hollywood knew its name, the land echoed with sorrow from clashes between Spanish settlers and the Tongva people. But the address seared into modern memory is 10050 Cielo Drive—the site of the 1969 murders that claimed the life of actress Sharon Tate and four others.

In the late 1990s, producer David Oman and his father broke ground just a few doors away, intending to build their dream home. Almost immediately, David realized he’d invited more than contractors onto the property. Footsteps in empty hallways, full-bodied apparitions, and disembodied voices soon convinced him that the valley of shadows along Cielo isn’t finished telling its story.
