Good to be here. Good to be off a good weekend for myself. Hopefully you had a good weekend suit and hopefully have one at home did it as well.

It's such a nice way to start a show on a Monday. My weekend was fine. I hope everyone's weekend was... I never do that. I too care about your weekends.

I just never think to say it. A moral flaw on my part. Also, MP Adnan-Hussein has left

your party citing persistent infighting. It's also a way in to discuss a broader topic of the

place for social conservatism in left-wing movements.

As I'm sure you would have guessed, the majority of the show is going to be talking about

Shabana Mahmood's new immigration policies, and whether or not the UK should be taking lessons

from Denmark. I speak to an academic in Denmark who writes on these issues.

Labor came to power promising to stop the boats crossing the English channel.

And despite adopting increasingly harsh rhetoric on immigration, Starmes government has

so far failed to fulfill that promise. 38,000 people have crossed the channel on small boats this

calendar year, which is the second highest number on record. Not unrelatedly, Labour are also way behind

reform in the opinion polls. And it's in that context

that Home Secretary Shabana McMood this weekend announced Britain's asylum policy was about to get

much tougher. I know we have to go further because people are still getting in boats every day,

crossing the channel, putting their lives at risk and those of other people as well. I want to

break that business model and I want to break that
