Vailana. Normally I would call you Vailana Marcus, but as an artist, you're just Vailana.

Just Vailana. And you have probably the most controversial song of your whole album about

the release so much so and so interestingly so that we thought we would have a little chat about

the meaning behind it. The song is called Out of Exile and it's about the reclamation of sexuality

and your own journey through that. A journey that I've been a part of.

Big part of? Quite a big part of the monumental part of.

Why did you decide to name it Out of Exile? What does that mean to you?

So in my own life's experience, in so many ways I felt

disempowered in my sexuality using it for validation, using it to try to capture love trying to hold on.

You were not a virgin when we met. This is fucked up. Stop the podcast.

I think I was like, are you crazy? We're having a discussion.

But the Exile part is the part that feels shame around the fullness of being in your full

fuck. The part of you that's willing to just be fully surrendered and open and to touch God

through your sex. And that is something that I feel very few women and men have truly experienced.

And there's so much distorted energy around our sexuality based on how we're brought up,

based on religious traditions and the shaming that comes around that expression in that container.

There's so many aspects of life where it's sex really talked about in this way where we can

access our power, where we can connect to the highest frequency that we can access
