I'm Rob Cox, the editor of Breaking Views, coming to you this week from Connecticut in the USA. Well, we've had lots of glimmers of hope in the efforts to produce

vaccines against COVID-19. This week, Moderna said its vaccine was 94.5% effective in preventing

the virus based on interim data from a large late-stage trial. Not to be outdone, Pfizer and its German partner

Bio-Ntech said their vaccine, which had propelled markets the week before into a bit of a frenzy,

was 95% effective. Pfizer's vaccine also appears safe enough to apply for emergency approval within

days. In fact, it could be on the market in a matter of weeks. Both of these are astonishingly good

results, but as you'll hear from my chat with Rob

Siren and Amy Donnell and our columnists on the Farmer Beat, there's actually a bit more

to come.
