0:00.0	There are many Christians, believers, who, when they go through some trying circumstances
0:07.8	and some hard times, many of them attempted to think that God had forsaken them, that
0:17.9	somehow God has to end up on them, that they've been abandoned by God, that
0:24.0	he is not protecting them like he promised. Most of them would know probably intellectually,
0:31.4	and they know biblically and spiritually that is not true, that God never leave us, no forsake us. But the temptation is there nonetheless.
0:40.5	It's the temptation. In fact, there are some Christians, some Christian teachers and some
0:46.8	denominations actually, said that this fourth statement from the cross was Jesus' imagination that the Father had forsaken
0:57.5	him, that the Father really has not forsaken him at all. It's a sort of their way of making God
1:05.0	to look nice, that He did not forsake Jesus, that He was thinking that he forsake him, just like we do.
1:13.9	Now, of course, this human congestion is a contradiction of the scripture, and it's contradiction of the truth,
1:21.2	it's contradiction of the very core of our faith.
1:25.2	For in that moment when Jesus cried out, Ily, Ili, Lima sabactani, God the Father did actually turn his back on God the Son.
1:37.7	This fourth statement from the cross is the very core of our redemption. This is probably the most important message in this series of
1:48.0	messages I've been preaching on the seven statements from the cross. Because it is the very core,
1:53.7	it's the very essence of the Christian faith. To miss this, you miss everything. This cry is the basis on which every person who had ever come will ever come to Jesus
2:07.7	and say to God, forgive me, will find forgiveness and eternal life.
2:15.3	This cry is the very basis for every believer to be assured that he or she
2:23.4	is redeemed eternally. This cry is the basis on which every true Christian can be assured of the
2:32.5	forgiveness of their sins and that they have peace with God
2:36.1	and they will have eternity with Him in heaven. Please listen carefully. Had the Father not
2:42.7	turned his back on the son, had the Father not abandoned the son at that moment, you and I
2:50.7	could never be sure that the son actually carried
