Right now across the United States, up to 25%, 25% of our high schools do not offer more than one

of the basic courses in high school math and science education, 25%. And 47.2% of rural districts

do not have a single student in any AP course at all. Almost 50% of our students in rural America

have no access at all to AP English, AP science, AP math.

Young people as they tell us and want to keep reminding us are our future, right?

But damn, we're failing the hell out of them when we can't even give them access to the possibility

of improving their quality of life, improving their educational opportunities,

by positioning them through sound academic programs. So I asked a friend of mine to stop by

who is actually trying to do that. His name is Matt Dolan. He's the founder and CEO of the Global

Teaching Project, which provides promising high school students in rural and underserved areas

across the country access to advanced courses that they will need to help them fulfill their full

Well everybody, welcome again to the Michael Still podcast. It's great to have you

in the house as we have an conversation that is quite honestly beneath the radar screen for

for most Americans when it comes to what is happening in education, particularly in some of the

poorest communities in our country. We get caught up in the politics of education and we forget

about the kids. We forget that they're teachers who are trying to teach their students who actually

do want to learn, believe it or not. And there are a lot of very special men and women out there who
