Hey, this is Trey. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday edition. We are joined

today by an old friend and there's nothing better than an old friend. He's also a former

colleague. He's from the great state of California. He's a husband of dad, a son, and he has a new

title, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Kevin McCarthy, welcome, Mr. Speaker. How are you?

I'm doing well, Trey. How are you doing? I'm doing great. You know, the title sounds like a lot of fun,

but the job doesn't. I mean, the job sounds kind of hard. How has your life changed at all since you

ascended to the hot seat? Well, if you watched, you know, it was pretty smooth getting here. So the rest

is all downhill. You know, anybody can win the speakership on the first vote. There's only a few of

us in the history books that take a little longer. And like most things, if it's if it's worth fighting for,

it takes a little longer to get. And so, no, I'm really actually enjoying the job. And as you know,

we've been friends for a long time. And this was at one time an opportunity to have this job prior

that didn't turn out right. And I'm much better prepared now. And the interesting part is we had to go

earn it this time. And I think you savor that more. And by going through what we went through,

it really developed more like a team at the end. And I've got a lot of good members that helped me

along the way. So the stress I thought that I have with the job, I don't have. And you know,

I'm not running for any other position. I just want to do this job well. And so focused pretty

mainly we've got a big job to do. There's a lot of big crisis is out there. There's some that are

short term, some are long term. But I feel very fortunate to be able to be in the position to actually

be able to do something. You know, people that listen to this podcast or watch the show know that I

like you. And therefore I confess my bias. I'm not even pretending to be objective. I mean,

I can't be objective about my friends. But you know, when I think about one of the qualities you have

that I marvel at the most, it is your ability to move on. And I think that's something that our
