Summary

In this throwback message from June 1st, 2008 at Bethel Church in Redding CA, Kris Vallotton shares about the importance of partnering rest with faith. He reminds us that often busyness is rooted in fear and choosing to slow down is one way we can actively trust that God is bigger than our unsettled internal world. He invites us to allow the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and bring true rest which is the peace found in His presence. Hi, Chris Felt in here. Welcome to my podcast where we hope to inspire you to transform the world within you and transform the world around you.

Over the next several months, we're going to take a journey through the years of messages that I've spoken the last decade that are both memorable, monumental, and I think marking to both me and the global family.

0:25.0

I'm excited to share this message with you today. I pray the Lord ministers you as you listen. God bless you.

0:31.0

You guys doing good? Wow.

0:36.0

I really felt like when we were praying for the folks with the financial breakthrough, you know, Kathy and I, I don't know how many years it was now, eight years ago, I guess we owed $1.5 million.

0:49.0

And that's a lot of money. We take me at least two or three years to pay that off with the wages I'm getting in Bethel.

1:01.0

But the Lord, we just went through a process and the Lord forgave a whole bunch of it and gave us money to pay the rest off. And so I just, you know, released that overall people who are like, near bankruptcy and all that kind of stuff.

1:14.0

Let's pray and see what we're going to do. Father, thank you for what you've done, what you've done already today and tonight and people who have gotten healed.

1:25.0

People have just received blessing and inheritance and just release of debt and all the things that have happened, even things we're not aware of yet, that will become aware of in the next 30 days.

1:37.0

Father, we just thank you for all those things and we ask your blessing on what we shared tonight that it would be helpful and that we'd be able to move in deeper into the kingdom, deeper into the ways of the kingdom and finding your grace and peace in Jesus' name. Amen.

1:53.0

Why don't you turn to Hebrews. We're going to do chapter around chapter three and some of chapter four. And I want to talk to you about resting and faith tonight.

2:02.0

Bill was talking about faith and I had already put together some notes. So I showed him like, I'm not doing your message. I got it first.

2:16.0

Hebrews three about verse 18 and to them he's he's for that they would not enter his rest speaking of Israel when they were going through the wilderness and then into the promised land with Joshua.

2:32.0

But to those start let's start over verse 18 to whom he did he did see and to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest but to those who were disobedient.

2:45.0

So we see that they were not able to enter his rest because of unbelief. Everybody said unbelief.

2:51.0

Therefore, let us fear verse one of chapter four. Let us fear if while promise remains of entering his rest any one of us may seem to have come short of it.

3:02.0

Indeed, if they had the good news preached to us just as we just as they also but the word they heard did not profit them because it was not united by faith and those you heard for those who have believed entered his rest just as he said, I swore my wrath they will not enter my rest for.

3:22.0

So we have been blessed up for three for we who have believed entered that rest just as he said as I swore in my wrath they shall not enter his rest although his all though his works were finished when the foundation of the world for he said somewhere concerning the seventh day who wrote Hebrews doesn't know anything about Genesis I guess.

3:42.0

And God rested on the seventh day from his works and again in this past days they shall not enter my rest therefore since it remains for for some to enter it and those who formerly had good news preached them fail to enter because of disobedience again he fixed a certain day saying today saying through David just along just so long a time just as I you you boy.

4:06.0

I might have an astruggle or what reading verse seven and again fixes a certain day today saying through David after so long a time just as you said before today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts.

4:21.0

Why that doesn't seem to make sense when you look at it but verse eight if Joshua had given them rest he would not have spoken of another day after that for their remains of Sabbath rest for the people of God for the one who has entered his rest has himself also rested from his works just as God did from his therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest so that no one will fall through following the same example of disobedience for the word of God is living in active in sharpness.

4:50.0

In fact it has been sharp and any two-edged sword piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit both of joints and moral enabled to judge the thoughts and tensions of his heart and there's no creature hidden from his sight but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
