The Twilight's On. Tonight's Twilight Zone distinguishes itself as a landmark episode for a couple of reasons. It is the point

at which the show comes into triple figures with episode 100, but it's also the point where a

name that has been conspicuously absent, finally comes into the fold.

It is one of those moments that should be monumental,

like two great actors finally sharing the screen together,

or the reformation of a loved, but long-ed rock band who finally get together again on stage.

By 1963 Ray Bradbury was a science fiction powerhouse.

He had over 50 short stories published, which led to over 10 published collections of his work and

novels. There had been numerous television and radio adaptations, including five episodes of

Alfred Hitchcock Presents. His story, theoghorn had been adapted into the film The Beast

from 20,000 Fathoms, which wasn't the first giant monster movie, but it is interesting in its

timing when we frame it against the first Godzilla film that would come out of Japan a year later.

So Ray Bradbury and Rod Serling together at last seems to be one of those moments that should have been written in the stars.

The literary Leviathan Ray Bradbury, and the television titan,

Rod Serling. Surely now, Bradbury would join the likes of Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont

in the Twilight Zone stable. Well tonight's episode starts out well enough, a beautiful

American neighborhood and an emotionally charged conversation between a widower George Rogers

and his children's aunt about how his three children, Tom, Anne and Karen, are coping with the death of their mother.

Certainly a situation that is ripe for examination by the Twilight Zone
