I am walking through the centre of Newcastle-upontine in the north-east of England.

It's a city that is full of history. Hadrian's Roman Wall starts here.

It's also the city that I grew up in. It's my hometown.

I lived here until I was 18 and I'm walking through streets and I know like the back of my hand towards one of my old haunts. It's just

round this corner. Here it is. It is a patch of grass in front of a shopping centre.

There's nothing very spectacular to look at. But back when I was growing up, this was nicknamed the Hippie Green.

And it's where anybody who had any kind of interest in alternative music hung out.

The indie kids, the metalers, but mainly the goffs.

And I was never quite a fully-fledged, got myself.

I was never quite brave enough to get fully dressed up.

But lots of my friends were.
