Hello and welcome to today's independent travel podcast. It's Friday the 6th of September.

I happen to be in beautiful I air in the south of France. A very nice cafe, La Regents, and enjoying

some breakfast before I drift along the coast to Toulon, to Cassis, to Marseilles,

finally departing at 1115 tonight on Ryanair.

I'm pretty confident that flight's going to be going ahead as opposed to a number of British

Airways passengers who have discovered today they are not going anywhere.

For example, here we are. You've got British Airways passengers being told,

we are extremely sorry that your flight has been cancelled at short notice due to adverse weather conditions in London.

Nothing adverse about the weather conditions here, except it might get a bit too hot and sunny later.

Sorry about that.

We'll do everything we can to get you where you need to be.

Well, I've just been in contact with one passenger who was actually booked on a flight from nearby Marseilles at 10 to 2 this afternoon.

That has now been delayed, well, reassigned to a very late flight.

And that's going to cheese a lot of people off because the original flight, middle of the day on a Friday,

very popular, very expensive and a late night flight, well, you can normally pick those up much

more cheaply. And of course, one thing that I dare say a number of people will be doing

if they are looking at these cancellations and by the way they include

great destinations such as barcelona Stockholm oslo bucharest prague milan lanaka and lovely

nice just down the coast from here yeah i think a lot of people will be trying to buy tickets on

other airlines because often it is actually in your interests if you've spent maybe 250 euros on a flight to get you home.

If Ryanair or EasyJet is doing one for 100 or 150 then you're sort of going

to be quids in. You can also claim your meals during the prolonged stay when British Airways is
