Hi, friends. I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.

Each month, we get to read all four books. So go ahead, subscribe today and join us as we read the Gospels together.

We say this around here a lot. You don't have to be in the Gospels every day to be changed, but every day you are in the Gospels will change you.

So I'm really glad you're here. Here's how this works. This month, we are reading through the Gospels chronologically from the new international version or the NIV.

So we'll be reading the stories and the order they took place mixing together from all four books most days.

I'll share the references with you here at the beginning and you can also find them in the show notes as well as in the reading plan and in the guidebook.

You can listen or read along in your own Bible and then I'll pray and that's it. So today is September 3rd and I will be reading Luke 241 to 52.

Mark 1, 2 through 8. Matthew 3, 1 through 12. Luke 3, 1 through 18. Mark 1, 9 through 11. Matthew 3, 13 through 17. Luke 3, 21 and 22.

Mark 1, 12 through 13. Matthew 4, 1 through 11. Luke 4, 1 through 15 and John 1, 19 to 34 from the NIV.

Jesus speaks with the teachers from Luke. Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover.

When he was 12 years old, they went up to the festival according to the custom.

After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem but they were unaware of it.

Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.

When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days, they found him in the temple courts sitting among the teachers listening to them and asking them questions.

Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.

When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, son, why have you treated us like this?

Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you. Why were you searching for me? He asked, didn't you know I had to be in my father's house?

But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them.

But his mother treasured all these things in her heart and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

John the Baptist prepares the way from Mark.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, I will send my messenger ahead of you who will prepare your way.
