Travel Desk Tuesday and today is probably with everybody going back to work and school and

everything else a good day to look at possible winter sun destinations and as always the

Caribbean is a huge favourite I've got personal favourite islands I love Jamaica and I love Cuba. Huge amounts of culture going on there.

But my excellent colleague, senior travel writer Natalie Wilson, is here to talk about the joys

or not of St Lucia. Paint a picture of this island if you could.

Undeniably beautiful. A dormant volcano. You've got the same white sand beaches, the friendly locals,

the incredible food that comes sort of with the image of the Caribbean. But being there this

summer at the start of carnival season, I think I did see a side of St. Lucia outside of the

all-inclusive that I think

a lot of people tend to lean towards in the Caribbean where you stay in the gates and you sit by the

pool, which completely fine. But actually getting out and getting a bit more involved in the things

the locals would do on the island was really interesting. Well, it is an island, as you say,

of it meant scenic beauty and so much to go and explore.
