0:00.0	Hi friends I'm Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the
0:13.7	parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. So here is how it works. I'll
0:17.9	read three chapters to you. You can listen or read along in your own Bible or
0:21.2	online and then I'll pray, and that's it.
0:24.6	So today is day 24.
0:26.0	I'll be reading Matthew, chapters 9 through 11 from the New Living translation,
0:30.7	and we are on page 157 of the Let's Read the Gospel's guided journal.
0:39.5	Matthew 9
0:42.0	Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town.
0:46.7	Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat.
0:49.8	Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man be encouraged my child your sins are forgiven
0:54.6	but some of the teachers of religious law said to themselves that's blasphemy does he think he's
0:58.9	God Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them,
1:03.0	why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts?
1:06.0	Is it easier to say your sins are forgiven or stand up and walk?
1:10.0	So I will prove to you that the Son of man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.
1:14.8	Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said,
1:17.5	Stand up, pick up your mat and go home.
1:20.7	And the man jumped up and went home. Fear swept through the crowd as they saw this happen.
1:26.2	And they praised God for giving humans such authority.
1:29.7	As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collectors booth.
1:35.7	Follow me and be my disciple, Jesus said to him.
