Thanks for joining me, Simon Calder, for the latest on

travel and destinations from the Greenlist and the travel desk of the Independent. Much later

than usual today, but that's because I am talking to you just a couple of hours after we learnt

the big changes to the international travel rules. Right, my headline is that actually the red list

has shrunk, as I predicted it would, not quite in the same way that we thought it would do,

but instead of 62 countries on the red list from 4 a.m. next Wednesday, the 22nd of September.

It will reduce by 8. You've got the key eastern Mediterranean nations of Egypt and Turkey,

plus winter favourites. Four of those, Kenya, the Maldives, Oman and Sri Lanka.

And there's also a mandatory hotel quarantine for arrivals will end for people coming in from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Obviously, lots of family connections there.
