It's Monday, September 16th. I'm your host, Ryan Williams. In Ohio, police responded to a report about a missing child.

Police in Chicago announced the arrest of a suspect in a two-year-old homicide case.

Over in Michigan, police respond to a late night home invasion and assault

and find an elderly couple in bad shape.

And in North Carolina, a woman called the police after receiving a

text message from a friend that contained a photo of her husband who appeared to be

dead. All of this coming at you right now here on Sword and Scale Daily. On Thursday at around 9 p.m. police in Sandusky Ohio received a call about a

three-year-old child who went missing from a home.

The caller, 29-year-old Devon O'Brien, told dispatch the following, quote,

I need to report.

I believe my girlfriend's daughter and dog have been taken. I took a 30 minute nap and I just woke up. They're nowhere. I've searched our entire home. I'm thinking I should drive around and look. I don't know. They just moved in with me.

There's a field near here.

Responding officers arrived at the home on the 4,000 block of Venice Road and contacted Devon.

He stated that when he woke up he found some things that were out of place within his home and said a man he knew from Cleveland that he knew to be a quote deadbeat drug guy may have been responsible for the break-in and kidnapping.

Officers asked Devon what he remembered before taking a nap.

He stated that he came home from work and shortly after arriving, his girlfriend told him that she had to head out for work.

He planned to take a quick nap, but when he woke up, his girlfriend's child and dog were gone.

Based on the information they had, officers began searching in the immediate area near Devon's house.

It wouldn't be too long before they made their way out to the field by his house, you know, the one Devon mentioned in his initial conversation with 911?

Sure enough, they located the child.

Tragically, however, the child would be pronounced dead at the scene.
