Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-author Eugene Daniels. It is Thursday, September 12th. Here is what's driving the day.

First up, when it comes to the fight over abortion rights, Democrats and their allies are keeping the proverbial foot on the gas as the presidential campaign nears its final

sprint. This morning, American Bridge, 21st Century, released its latest round of TV and Digital,

a $15 million ad by centered in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, and focused entirely on

contrasting Vice President Kamala Harris and former President

Donald Trump on abortion.

Next up, Trump has tried to parry the issue, aware of the salience of reproductive rights

among moderate women voters.

Remember that he called himself a, quote, leader on IVF during the debate on Tuesday.

But now those attempts are angering some of his conservative base.

Alice Miranda Olstein and Megan Messerly report this morning on that backlash

and how is endangering Trump standing with two pillars of the GOP.

Small government deficit hawks outraged by the idea of a sweeping new federal

mandate on IVF coverage and religious conservatives who oppose the procedure as commonly practiced.

And summer's over, y'all, it's fall in D.C. Bring out the coats. Sweater or whatever. And you know on Capitol Hill that almost inevitably

means another shutdown fight. House Republicans have torpedoed, Speaker Mike Johnson's original plan

to pass a spending proposal. As our colleagues, Olivia Beavers, Jordan Carney, and Sarah Farris reported
