Yeah, this is one of the controversies that just won't die as far as Ray Allen and his relationship with the rest of the 2008 championship winning Celtics.

0:09.4

Real quick, just don't mean a sidebar, but you mentioned the Celtics.

0:13.3

You had in your updates?

0:14.3

Yeah.

0:14.6

Jared Selinger.

0:15.7

Boy, what the hell has happened to this guy?

0:17.5

Well, he's overweight out of shape and can't play anymore. He couldn't jump in

college. Yeah. He's signed for a team in China, but Fred, here's the thing. He's only signed for two

months. Now, the question is, why only two months? There are two possibilities. One is Salinger wants

it out in case an NBA team wants him, but the other more damning reason would be the Chinese people have seen him play. You're weight 300 pouts. We're not committing to a full season with you. They're committing to an NBA player's full season, believe me. Solinger once in out in case he hates it. I like the other one. That's much more entertaining. I can't let that. He's got to have Eddie Laceyitis. You love that china food, though. That's true. It's very possible. It's very possible. So there was a tweet that happened to the day on Instagram post that Paul Pierce put out there. And after that big Area 21 situation where you saw everyone reunite except for Ray Allen and they basically talked trash on Ray Allen most of the time.

1:14.1

Paul Pierce put out a little thing where they met up in China, him and Ray Allen, and said, let's bury the hatchet.

1:19.1

I think we should all, you know, be friends, and Doc Rivers is apparently on board.

1:22.7

I wanted to get Ray Allen back into the scheme of things, which once again is all good and it'd be great if it all ended right there.

1:28.5

But Ray Allen did an interview with a Chinese television station down there and started talking about those final days.

1:36.2

Now, what do we know about how Ray Allen left?

1:39.2

What, like, what information is out there about the deal he was offered by the Boston Celtics before he left for the Miami Heat. Celtics offered more money and he did not leave on good terms. And he did not tell anyone he was leaving. And he did not tell anyone he was leaving until the day of the press conference where everyone found out. On top of that, if I'm not mistaken, it was twice the amount of money, right? It was double the money, because I think it was $6 million, and it was $3 million that he was going to get from Miami. And the other thing I had also read was that because one of Ray Allen's biggest problems was that during his time here, his name kept getting off, like sent out there and rumors about being traded. Almost got traded to Memphis, in fact. That's right. Matter of fact, they told him he was traded, and then it didn't go through, according to the story. So one of the things that reportedly he had been offered was in no sign a three-year, $10 million deal. Celtics were offering two years and $12 million. Okay. So, all right, $6 million versus $3 million three million dollars. Yeah. Per season. So they also apparently gave him the, they said we'll give you a no trade clause. We won't trade you during that period, which in the NBA is insane. That doesn't happen. But apparently they're willing to give that to Ray Allen. So let's go to the tape. This is Ray Allen talking about his final days with the Boston Celtics.

One of the hardest decisions that I had to make because I didn't want to leave.

2:54.9

I didn't want to have to.

2:55.6

But the team almost put me in a bad situation.

3:01.6

And it wasn't that at the end of the day, it ended up being Miami or Boston.

3:05.7

It just ended up being Miami or Boston that I was no longer going to be playing for the way free agency went at that

time, which was sad to me, and it was sad to my family because we're New Englanders. We live
