0:49.8	To understand him, well, we first need to look at his background to understand his family and his
0:54.9	family's deep connection to the Chinese Communist Party.
0:59.2	She was born in Beijing in 1953, just four years after the establishment of the People's Republic of
1:06.2	China. He was the son of Shizong Shan who played a significant role in the
1:12.2	rise of the Chinese Communist Party and its ultimate
1:14.9	victory during the revolution. The Eldershi joined the Communist Youth League in
1:20.9	the 1920s and quickly rose to the ranks of the party.
1:24.7	He was actively involved in organizing labor strikes and uprisings against the ruling
1:29.6	Kuomintang party or the KMT government.
1:33.0	During the Chinese Civil War,
1:34.6	Shizhong-Shun played significant roles
1:37.0	in various military engagements and campaigns
