After Keith Jackson got arrested in September 1989 for selling crack in the park in front

of the White House, he was immediately locked up while he waited for his trial.

The trial began that December.

I've never forgotten it.

Tracy Thompson, the woman we heard from a couple episodes ago, the one who watched Bush's

baggy of crack speech during her beach getaway in South Carolina.

She was a reporter for the Washington Post, and her beat was the federal courts, which meant

she was assigned to cover Keith Jackson's trial.

That was almost 30 years ago, but she says she still thinks about Keith.

I wonder what happened to him.

I think about what a first that trial was and how unfair that whole situation was.

At the time when Tracy was covering the trial, it was the pharciical parts that first caught

her attention, caught everyone's attention.

Not just the story of how Keith Jackson didn't know where the White House was when DEA agents

tried to lure him there, but in the trial, more details came out about the bungalink

that happened once they got him to the White House.

There was the wire, the undercover DEA agent was wearing.

It crapped out and recorded nothing.
